I find myself preferring the GTS models from the R32 onwards to the GT-Rs, since the GT-R from this point on became a bunch of gonzo technology and computer controlled everything and holy fuck look at what it is capable of and the GTS models were still, well, cars. Front engine, rear-drive, straight six at the front, maybe a turbo, maybe not. The craziest thing they have is rear-wheel steering, which is nowhere near as nutzo as the chassis in the GT-R.
